Interview: Robin Wagner, RE-AMP Administrative Associate

We are thrilled to have Robin join the Network and help support some of the administrative functions. She currently works some for 1000 Friends of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin DNR managing websites and doing special projects although she does have a wide range of skill sets- part of the reason we’re excited to have her on board. Besides administrative duties, Robin will also be helping with our monthly newsletter and managing the Commons. Welcome!

Sarah Ann Shanahan: Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Robin Wagner: I was born and raised in Wisconsin and currently live in Madison with my partner and our three cats.  I graduated from UW Madison and have a certificate in GIS.  I started volunteering and then working at 1000 Friends of Wisconsin in 2011.  I also work at the Wisconsin DNR as a Web Publisher in the Drinking and Ground Water section. In my spare time I enjoy playing hockey and birdwatching.

Sarah Ann Shanahan: What prompted you to apply for the position at RE-AMP?

Robin Wagner: I love RE-AMP’s mission of 80% reduction by 2050.  Climate change is one of the biggest obstacles we are facing in our lifetime and the RE-AMP Network is a great approach to tackling such a complex issue.

Sarah Ann Shanahan: What type of skills and expertise are you bringing to the Network?

Robin Wagner: I have a background in web design and have taught myself a lot of e-business solutions over the past few years. I have managed finances, helped with events and grant-writing and have a strong interest in environmental conservation.  Really, I’m a jack of all trades and master of none.

Sarah Ann Shanahan: What inspires you?

Robin Wagner: Over a decade ago a former boss took me bird-watching for the first time.  The first bird I looked at through the binoculars was a Cedar Waxwing.  I was hooked. Over time I became more interested in the natural world and the more I learned the more concerned I became for the future of all species. Climate change and habitat loss are the two things that I worry most about.  Helping combat these is my personal mission.

Sarah Ann Shanahan: Anything else you’d like to share?

Robin Wagner: I’m looking forward to learning more about the Network  and to help make it easier and hopefully more fun to use technology! I’m most looking forward to networking with all of you to find out what you need and how I can help!
